Polls have closed across the country in Council, Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly and Police and Crime Commissioner elections, as well as the city Mayoral elections.

There are hopes that PCC election turnout will prove to be higher than the 2012 turnout of 15%, though these hopes are likely to be false.

The Scottish Parliament is likely to see the Conservatives taking the position of the official opposition, as Labour continue to feel the pressure from the SNP north of the border. Meanwhile, in Wales, Labour are set to hold their position as the largest party, though are expected to lose seats.

UKIP is facing a test of seriousness in the North, in many Labour strongholds, in the council elections.

This is also a test for the Conservatives, acting as a barometer for their general popularity (or unpopularity) in the country as a whole.

In London, Sadiq Khan is likely to become the first Muslim mayor of London, leading the Labour party to take back the position of Mayor, having been absent for 8 years. This may be one of the few Labour victories this year, after a month of accusations of ANTI-SEMITISM within the party and the further mishandling of the crisis by leader, Jeremy Corbyn.
